## A spare quantity is sized to the installed count and to the Owner's maintenance program, so no quantity is the norm and the field carries no default; spares matter most where the devices are a color or a finish that is ordered rather than stocked, because a replacement in a near-match color is visible on the wall for the life of the building, and a zero records that the Owner stocks nothing and replaces from the catalog. {note}
## Spare devices and plates shall be identical to the installed items in manufacturer, grade, configuration, color, and finish, shall be delivered in their original packaging, and shall be labeled with the device type and the area they serve.
