When to use: Factory-built fuel storage tanks furnished as vessels for stationary fuel-burning equipment on commercial, institutional, industrial, data center, and utility projects: the aboveground diesel and fuel-oil tank listed to UL 142, UL 2080, UL 2085, UL 80, or UL 2258, the underground tank listed to UL 58 with UL 1746 corrosion protection or to UL 1316, the tank set in a below-grade vault listed to UL 2245, the generator sub-base tank as a vessel, the day tank as a vessel, and the ASME liquefied-petroleum-gas container that stores propane for an engine-generator, a boiler, or other on-site equipment under NFPA 58. Covers the listing and construction, the secondary containment, the overfill prevention and spill containment at the fill, the normal and emergency vent devices, the leak detection sensors, the level gauging, the corrosion protection, the anchorage and flotation restraint, the foundation interface, factory and field tightness testing, delivery, warranty, and spare parts. The scope ends at the tank nozzles and, for a propane container, at the outlet of the container service valve.
− Not intended for: The fuel-oil pumps, the fill, supply, return, and vent piping beyond the tank nozzles, fuel polishing, tank heating, day-tank level logic, and the fuel-oil monitoring console where one is furnished with the system ([[sync/fuel-oil-systems]]); the first-stage regulator at a propane container and the gas piping from the container to the appliance ([[sync/fuel-gas-piping]]); the engine, the alternator and its excitation, the governor, the exhaust, the enclosure, and the starting batteries of an engine-generator ([[sync/generators]]); the burner and the oil train of a boiler ([[sync/boilers]]); the runtime class and the alternate-source capacity of an emergency power system ([[sync/emergency-and-standby-power]]); motor-vehicle dispensing stations, aviation and marine fueling, and the Class I liquid tanks that serve them under NFPA 30A; field-erected tanks built to API 650 or API 620; oil-water separators, chemical storage tanks, and water storage tanks; the concrete pad as a structure ([[sync/concrete-pads]]); anchor rod grades and setting ([[sync/structural-steel-anchor-bolts]], [[sync/post-installed-anchors]]); excavation, groundwater control during construction, and backfill above the tank excavation ([[sync/earthwork]], [[sync/excavation-support-and-dewatering]]); the site grading that keeps a release out of a storm inlet ([[sync/site-rough-grading]]); the spill-control shutoff at the outlet of a stormwater facility ([[sync/stormwater-management-systems]]); the grounding electrode system ([[sync/grounding-and-bonding]]); the bollards that protect a tank from vehicles ([[sync/site-furnishings-and-bollards]]); and the raceway and cable that carry the tank's alarm and gauge signals ([[sync/raceways-and-conduit]], [[sync/conductors-and-cables]]).
