Aggregate base course (ABC) for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects covering the placement, compaction, and quality control of crushed stone or processed graded aggregate used as the structural sub-base or base course beneath flexible (asphalt) and rigid (concrete) pavements, slabs-on-grade, building floor systems, exterior hardscape, equipment pads, and similar site improvements. Covers material classification and gradation, subgrade acceptance, geotextile separation where soft subgrades are encountered, lift placement, moisture conditioning, compaction, proof rolling, surface tolerances, and field testing. Intended to be read alongside the geotechnical investigation report, the civil grading drawings, and the structural or pavement section details, all of which govern design-specific values such as base thickness, target density, and material class.
Waterproofing of below-grade walls and slabs that retain earth and enclose interior space, where a groundwater investigation confirms a hydrostatic pressure condition or where the Owner requires waterproofing-level protection regardless of the groundwater finding. Applies to footings, foundations, grade beams, mat foundations, below-grade walls, slabs on grade, elevated slabs and decks, columns, beams, and structural walls on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Cast-in-place concrete equipment pads and housekeeping pads that receive mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment - generators, pad-mounted and dry-type transformers, switchgear and switchboard lineups, chillers, air handlers, condensing units, pumps, compressors, boilers, and similar equipment - whether the pad bears on grade, on an interior finished floor, on a structural slab, or on an exterior platform. Covers the decisions a pad standard actually owns: pad geometry and height, attachment to the supporting concrete, reinforcement method, cast-in and post-installed equipment anchorage, cast-in raceway and grounding provisions, liquid containment, surface finish and grout bed, isolation from adjacent construction, dimensional and anchorage tolerances, and the verification performed before concrete is placed and before equipment is set.
