Question 1

How do I join my company on SynC?

Accepted Answer

Search for your company by name from your Dashboard or your account page, and send a join request saying what you do there. A company admin reviews it. Once you're in, you read and comment on your company's work. Editing requires a seat, which a company admin gives.

Question 2

What happens when a standard I use gets a new revision?

Accepted Answer

Nothing, until you decide. Your project follows the revision it adopted. When you update to the newer revision, its datasheets are reconciled: values that still fit carry forward, and anything that conflicts needs your decision before it applies. You can return to an earlier revision the same way.

Question 3

Can I undo a published revision?

Accepted Answer

No. A published revision is the record of what was issued, and it stays as published. To correct it, make the change and publish a new revision.

Question 4

Who can see my projects?

Accepted Answer

People with a role on the project, or a company role that covers it. To show a published revision to someone outside, send a share link. You choose what the link allows and how long it lasts, and the access record shows who accepted it and when.

Question 5

What happens to my conversations with the AI assistant?

Accepted Answer

The assistant reads only what you can already open in SynC. Conversations are saved to your account and are private to you. You can delete one at any time or copy it out as text. A conversation you stop using is deleted 180 days after its last message. SynC does not use your content or your conversations to train generative AI models, and the providers that run the assistant may not keep them or train on them. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service have the full details.

Question 6

Can I connect my own AI assistant to SynC?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if your assistant supports MCP and lets you add a request header. Claude Code does. Create an API key on the Integrations tab of your profile. Then add the server https://synergyinconstruction.com/mcp with the header "Authorization: Bearer" followed by your key. The assistant acts as you, limited to the permissions you gave the key. Connectors that ask you to sign in, such as custom connectors in the Claude and ChatGPT apps, cannot use a key. The API integrations guide has the steps.

Question 7

What is the difference between a standard, a specification and a datasheet?

Accepted Answer

A standard is the master. It lives in the open SynC library, your company's library or your personal library. Adding a standard to a project creates a specification, the project's copy of its clauses, which you tailor to the job. Its datasheets hold the values you fill in for this project, one for each scope of work.

Question 8

What does "Not less than" mean on a datasheet?

Accepted Answer

A standard's author can mark a numeric field as a minimum, a maximum or an exact value, and the datasheet shows it in words. "Not less than 65 kA" means 65 kA or higher meets the requirement; "Not more than 85 dBA" means 85 dBA or lower. A value with no words before it is exact. On a list of options, "Any of:" means any one of the listed items is acceptable; a list without it means all of them. The constraint is set in the standard and reads the same on the page and in the Word and PDF exports.

Question 9

How do I give someone access to my project?

Accepted Answer

Send a share link. When you create it, you choose what the recipient can do, how long the link lasts, who may use it, and whether they may forward it. Recipients sign in, or create a free account, to accept it. For lasting access, a company admin adds the person to your company, and gives a seat to anyone who edits.

Question 10

What export formats are available?

Accepted Answer

A published revision exports as a PDF package, Word, Markdown or JSON, where your role allows export. If your access came through a share link, you can export PDF and JSON, when the sender allows it. To read SynC data from your own tool instead of a file, set up an integration with an API key.
